This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in strengthening religious moderation in a multicultural society. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive-analytical approach. The research locations include madrasahs, Islamic boarding schools, and da'wah institutions in areas with high diversity, while the research subjects consisted of PAI teachers, religious leaders, students/university students, and the local community. Data collection techniques used in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles & Huberman model, which includes data reduction, presentation, and verification. The results show that PAI plays a significant role in instilling wasathiyah values, through curriculum integration, extracurricular activities, and interfaith dialogue. Teachers and educational institutions are strategic agents in instilling values of tolerance, nationalism, and anti-extremism. Challenges encountered include minimal teacher training, resistance from exclusive groups, and limited policy support. This study recommends strengthening teacher capacity, integrating institutional policies, and implementing sustainable moderate education practices
